Freddie Mercury, Splendid Things

Freddie Mercury, Splendid Things
| Jo Jones

I’m a huge Freddie Mercury and Queen fan, so I’ll be first in line for this free exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, celebrating what would have been Freddie’s 80th birthday. The exhibition brings together eight of Freddie’s most iconic stage looks, exploring how fashion was fundamental to his performance, creativity and self-expression. Expect to see the infamous ‘Mercury Wing’ catsuit from the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ music video, the crown and cloak from his final tour with Queen, as well as accessories from Freddie’s personal wardrobe. If, like me, you believe Freddie was one of the greatest performers who ever lived and want to celebrate the fun, flamboyant and gloriously charismatic legend he was, put it in the diary.

V&A South Kensington, 24 October 2026–17 January 2027. Free.
