Tubing Mascara vs Waterproof Mascara

Tubing Mascara vs Waterproof Mascara
| Jo Jones

It's often assumed that tubing mascara and waterproof mascara are one and the same.

They aren't. They're built differently, wear differently and remove differently. The right one depends on what you need your mascara to do.

Built Differently

Tubing mascara wraps each lash in tiny flexible polymer tubes that lock the formula in place, helping to resist smudging, flaking and transfer.

Waterproof mascara coats the lashes in a water-resistant film made from waxes, oils and film-forming ingredients designed to repel water.

Wears Differently

Both tubing and waterproof mascaras are designed to last.

The difference is what they're designed to withstand.

Tubing mascara is made for everyday life. Busy days. Late nights. Long commutes. Rich eye creams. Humidity. Happy tears. Gym sessions.

Waterproof mascara is designed for full water exposure. Swimming. Watersports. Beach holidays. Heavy rainstorms.

Think of it like your wardrobe.

Tubing mascara is the little black dress.

Elegant. Reliable. It works with everything, all year round.

Waterproof mascara is your warmest winter coat.

Absolutely brilliant when the weather demands it. You just wouldn't choose to wear it every day.

Removes Differently

Tubing mascara is incredibly easy to remove. Warm water and gentle pressure from your fingertips are all it takes. The tiny tubes slide cleanly off the lashes - no makeup remover required.

Waterproof mascara is notoriously harder to get off. You'll need an oil-based cleanser or cleansing balm to break down the formula. Be patient and let the cleanser do the work. Resist all temptation to rub hard - too much friction can irritate the delicate skin around the eyes and put unnecessary stress on your lashes.
